MEDOLUS

Hace muchos años ya que mi padre me habla de las cruces de mayo. En Piedrabuena, Ciudad Real, en el centro de España, cada mes de mayo se crean esos escenarios entre lo religioso, lo onírico y lo artístico. Se trata de habilitar una habitación de la casa, o crear un espacio nuevo en los grandes patios del lugar, transformándolos en un paisaje con la Cruz cómo centro. Algunas son más parecidas a altares, con una semejanza a lo que podemos ver en el catolicismo de algunos países sudamericanos. Para mi las interesantes son las otras. Pareces entrar en otro mundo: el sonido constante del agua de las fuentes, el olor a jadrea y otras hierbas campestres y las composiciones tipo diorama te trasladan a un paisaje casi místico. La cruz suele ser de madera, integrada completamente en el resto del cuadro. Tiene un toque entre romántico y tenebroso (pues podría ser la de cualquier tumba). I want to write about the Cross like an artistic symbol. I'm fascinated by the Medieval Architecture, from Romanic to Gothic style. There are really some places where you can find some inspiration far from the day to day life: cathedrals, abbeys, old churches, a dark cemetary... During a visit to the old abbey of "Santes Creus" I find a path near the church. Nobody was there and the silence was very deep....That cross appeared in front of me like an image from the dark medieval past...I could imagine the monks praying around it, closing their eyes and having their own visions.. The Cross, that brings the light or the dark depending on who is waving it... I want to see it, only now, like a beautiful artistic symbol...only today...we will discuss in the future about the rest of meanings...if you want...
