Un festival diferente, sin patrocinadores, muy alternativo, con el denominador común de la calidad de los grupos, de estilos muy distintos.  Se celebraba por segundo año en el espacio Fabra i Coats, una antigua fábrica convertida en Centro de Arte, que le da un escenario fantástico a las diferentes bandas. El evento era muy especial para mí, pues además de poder ver a uno de los grupos que más magia aportan al panorama metálico, me acompañaba por primera vez (su bautismo en la poesía de sonidos extremos) mi mujer, que fue una excelente partenaire. ¡Y el frío viento del Norte nos trajo a Therion! En una época en que muchas grandes bandas apuestan por recordar a sus épocas más gloriosas (algunas de forma magistral como Moonspell, otras repitiéndose hasta aburrir) Therion nos ofrecen un nuevo álbum. Un nuevo trabajo autoproducido por el alma de la banda, el gran Christofer Johnsson y que sólo va a vender, en una primera fase, en los conciertos. La primera grata sorpresa al llegar a Razmatazz, fue encontrarlo en el área de venta de "merchandasing", atendiendo a todo aquel que se lo pedía, haciéndose fotos y firmando autógrafos. Todo un regalo para los fans. Esta gira es la última en tres años, según explica el propio Johnsson en su web, ya que va a dedicarse a producir y componer una ópera. Imaginación y creatividad no le van a faltar. Entramos para acabar de escuchar a los prometedores franceses Eloyse. A partir de ahí ¡La magia!. Virando costas au mundo, orgullosamente sos Gloria antiga, volta a nooooooooss Alma mater! Increible recital de Moonspell en Barcelona. El vintage tour ha valido la pena. Desde que en el lejano ya 1995 di con Wolfheart Moonspell siempre se ha contado entre mis bandas favoritas. Prefiero su vertiente más metálica, pero su parte gótica es de lo mejor de la escena. El Wolfheart es uno de los discos que más he escuchado en mi vida, tiene la magia, la potencia, el sentimiento, el embrujo y la fuerza. No podía perderme el show de los fantásticos portugueses y allí estuve. Llegamos a media actuación de Helevorn (por cierto prometen). Enseguida se creó el ambiente en una sala Salamandra prácticamente llena (gracias Jordi por traer estos grupazos). La gente estaba con ganas de un concierto de calidad y así lo vivió. El público participó creando la magia, cantando, headbangeando, saltando, haciendo coros....fue bestial... Desde que apareció el lobo y Fernando (como estupendo frontman) se empe...

DOOOOMMM! A lot of years ago, Black Sabbath started something they really weren’t aware of their grandiosity and deepness, something which touch your feelings and make the music an important part of your life. For some circumstances I didn’t choose, I finally went ALONE to the show at MEPHISTO, but I really recommend that. It is a way to enjoy a deep listening of the Doom Metal show, putting all the attention to the music and all the details and, in addition, connecting with deep feeling inside of you. It was the first time I went to that place in the centre of Poblenou, a strange industrial area of Barcelona. I arrived a little bit late and I can not attend to the show of Moonlop, a local act. Prácticamente llena, la sala Apolo de Barcelona esperaba a los Opeth, una de las formaciones más originales, interesantes y complejas del Metal actual. Aperitivo con Oceanic (correctos y con detalles interesantes) y Cynic (personalmente no me gustó, creo que es de los grupos que amas o que odias). Con cierto retraso llego el momento tan esperado. Empezaron con “Heir Apparent” y desde allí nos volvimos locos con su death progresivo, con sus intermezzos acústicos, con su fuerza. Gateways of Bereavement! After a good Fintroll Folk Metal crazy show Katatonia appeared. They wear black dresses and black soul. It was a fantastic show that takes us to the deepest of our emotions. Katatonia are one of my favourite acts of all times. They have a great mix of darkness, feeling, cold and good music. They have created a great Palace of Frost and from that place shows to the world the dark side. Melodic intermezzos, crying voices, guttural screaming and superb guitars are part of Katatonia. They go far away of the music, they are pure feeling. I like to be depressing with their music. Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström are masters. A grey cold day, full of rain is the better one to listen to this band and dance with December Souls. They arrive to Barcelona to present Viva Emptiness, another “magna opus”. They started with “Ghost of The Sun” (superb Nyström screaming) and “Sleeper”. They follow with their better songs from “Last Fair Deal Gone Down”, “Tonight’s Decision” and...

A long time ago, in the glorious days when black metal reigns into the metal music Cradle of Filth make a great show in the dark Barcelona. Those vampires arrives rapping the throne of the old school black metal bands and making some exciting and interesting music. After they felt to the abyss of marketing and multinational corporations moneymakers, but we forget it. We shall pray them for their first works. Fresh air for the style and a new approach, losing “black” authenticity but winning some variety, with piano and female vocals (after copied until be boring), and with some relation with traditional heavy metal. I am a fanatic supporter of the old bands like Burzum, Darkthrone or Emperor, but I have enjoyed too during hours the albums of Mr. Filth and companion. That cold magical night, our favorite bloodsuckers present his first step to decadence, Midian album. Starting with some interesting songs of the album like Chutulu Dawn (Lovecraft, always with us) and Tortured Soul Assylum...

Fue a principios de los 90 cuando Paradise Lost escribieron de las mejores páginas de la música metal y concretamente de un género que ellos ayudaron a fundar: el doom-gothic metal. En discos como "Ghotic", se empezaban a adivinar la transición desde el "Death Metal" más agresivo a las melodías más pesadas y grandilocuentes. La introducción de voces femeninas y las guitarras de Mr. Mackintosh abrieron nuevos campos a la música heavy. Le siguieron obras maestras, indispensables como "Shades of God", "Icon" y "Draconian Times", con himnos majestuosos y resistentes al paso del tiempo. Fueron durante varios años mi grupo de referencia. Luego vino la decadencia, convirtiéndose en una mala copia de Depeche Mode.... Hasta que en 2007 editaron "Requiem".
